Anna Mae’s Bakery and Cafe has taken over the building formerly inhabited by Bowlyou’s Ice Cream and Grill and Constellations Cafe. The cafe’s lobby has been transformed through fresh new decor, giving it a fresh cozy feel. In contrast to Bowlyou’s simple and clean interior, Anna Mae’s has more stylish furniture, giving it more life.
Anna Mae’s is a Swedish cafe that opened in the Quad Cities in Milan, IL, on October 29th, 2025. The cafe opens at 5:30am and closes at 7pm, Monday through Friday. On weekends, their hours are 7am-7pm. Anna Mae’s has a wide range of drinks on their menu. They have options like coffee, frappacinos, dirty soda, and energy drinks. In terms of food, they have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Food items include sandwiches, a variety of Swedish-style goods, and salads. The cherry on top is that they have a menu dedicated to ice cream!
I have eaten inside of Anna Mae’s 3 times since it opened, and went to the drive through several times after that. Upon ordering, you find a seat, and the servers will bring the food out to you. The food comes out in to-go containers, making it convenient for customers who want to take it home. Their food is quality and delicious, and their drinks even better!
During my time at Anna Mae’s, I have experienced exceptional customer service and even better meals. Out of the bakery items, I have tried the lemon bars and muffins. The chocolate chip muffin is my favorite. It is moist and sweet and overall enjoyable. I love the variety of frappacino flavors, as well. “The Dove” is my favorite drink at Anna Mae’s. It is a white chocolate and vanilla blended combination. Similarly, I ordered their “S’mores” frappe. The chocolate flavoring is prominent with a hint of marshmallow. I highly recommend it for people with a sweet tooth.
Transitioning to the food items, I indulged in their bacon and gouda toast. The dish was delectable and very filling. Although, I loved their soup selections most. The cafe has “soup of the day” selections. Two out of the three times I went, they served chicken and rice soup. I enjoy having texture in my soup, so I thought the rice was perfect with the flavor. But their broccoli cheddar soup is especially memorable. It was one of my favorites out of their selections. The cheesy flavor with the steamed broccoli was stupendous. I don’t think Anna Mae’s has one bad soup flavor, I highly recommend all of them!
My family and friends have also visited Anna Mae’s and all responded positively. The Swedish cafe is a pleasant addition to Milan. It is a perfect spot for friends to meet up for lunch, students can grab a drink and study, and early workers can drive through and grab a coffee before their shift. There are endless possibilities for Anna Mae’s, so go in and grab a pastry!
