COVID 19

Miranda Igo, Writer

Since the quarantine has started, I have been working five or six days out of the week. I work in aisles online at the Rock Island HyVee. Aisles online is shopping online. People place their orders, and I go and shop it. I enjoy working as much as I have been because I like the people I work with, and it lets me get some social interactions. I also enjoy the big paychecks. It has been very busy, due to the fact that people aren’t wanting to leave their houses, but my coworkers make it fun. My momma is working from home, and I enjoy it. Not only do I get to see the kind of work she does, but I get to see her much more than a normal work/ school week. My dad is still going to work every day at John Deere Davenport Works, like normal.

My schedule has definitely been modified. I wake up around the same time every day, around 7:50, as my mom “goes to work” at 8 o’clock. I get up, get my coffee, and find something for breakfast. I usually just hangout and watch movies (and drink a lot of coffee) while my mom works in our home office. This month, we started a daily work out challenge.  We were doing really well at first, and then we started to slack, as I was starting to go to work earlier in the day.

At the beginning of quarantine, my mom let me get snapchat. She felt that I was mature enough, and since I wouldn’t be in school to see or talk to my friends, I needed some type of outlet to the world. And it actually has helped. I’ve started talking to friends from school, and even made some new friends. Unfortunately, social media is crucial to communication nowadays.  It has definitely started to consume a bunch of my time, but I will start to limit myself.

I think the best part of my new schedule has been how much I work. Not only am I getting a lot of hours, but it gives me an excuse to go out. The E-learning is going to take some getting used to, but I’m actually excited for it. I hope that you are all staying safe and healthy, and are not going crazy yet!
