The Seniors are out for revenge this year after a devastating lost at the annual Powder Puff Football game last year. The event takes place every year, and anyone can come watch the game by paying $2 or even bringing can goods. All the money and can goods goes towards the Student Hunger Drive. The football game really brings all the girls together, from both grades, to have fun and make memories before the Hunger Drive ends.

For some girls, this was their first year playing in the Powder Puff football game, and some of the girls really had a lot of fun, and enjoyed playing. Most of the girls actually got to learn how to  play football from their coaches. Jamyah Winter says, “It was a good experience to try a sport I could never see myself playing, and I learned how to play quarterback, but it wasn’t as easy as I thought, I had a lot of fun playing.”  For Jamyah, this was her first year playing in this. While the Juniors didn’t win this year, Jamyah, she says, “I didn’t care about winning, I just wanted to have fun with my friends and make more memories before it all ends.”

This year, the Senior girls all came together for the Powder Puff game, but the girls also never practiced for the game until the day of the game. Everyone showed up confused, and didn’t even think they’d have a chance to win. Last year, the seniors had lost, and were hoping to come out on top this year, and they’d actually won. Senior Amelia Peña compares last year’s game to this year’s by saying, “The experience this year was fun because we won. Don’t get me wrong, last year was fun, too, but it’s better when you win. I mean it’s not the end of the world, but it is one of the first lasts’ as a senior year, and it is kinda sad.”

This year, the Class of 2020 girls beat the Junior girls 26-6. Both teams played well and all the girls all had fun playing and going against each other. Powder Puff Football is something fun for the girls because it’s not a girls sport and should be an amazing experience for them too. Jamyah says, “For football being only a boys sport, it’s actually fun to play, and I see why the boys have fun playing football.” It’s always fun watching everyone laugh and make more memories together.
