Lucille Mass, often called Lucy, has been a Student Council member for 4 years. During this time, she has gained many inspiring experiences from her journey in Student Council. Lucy shared that her motivation to join the Student Council came from her love for helping out at school events. She feels that her involvement allows her to contribute to the smooth running of events, and gives her a sense of fulfillment. “I like being part of school events, and doing the work because I really like helping and being able to give something back to the school,” she said. Lucy finds joy in making a positive impact, no matter how small the task. She hopes that more students will join the Student Council and volunteer at events such as Hunger Drives and Homecoming because she believes that everyone can share in the joy of contributing to the school’s success.
While there are many great opportunities with the Student Council, the students face challenges in their roles, as well. For example, conflicts may arise between her and the other Student Council members, but she has learned to handle these situations by staying focused on her work. “If there are problems between me and others, I’ll ignore it and keep doing my job because that’s my top priority, and I’ll do my best for it,” she said. Additionally, she has faced moments when the Student Council plans didn’t go as expected, like when they hadn’t finished decorating an event room before the event started. In those moments, she and her team had to adapt, and do their best with the decoration they had.
Through these challenges, Lucy has developed strong problem-solving and leadership skills, which she feels have been important to her personal development. “Student Councils gave me a lot of impact on my personal development, such as helping me to plan my stuff,” she shared. Moreover, Lucy has learned that teamwork is crucial, stating, “When everyone gets along, it’s easier to do the job.” She hopes that in the future, more students will participate in Student Council meetings, and become part of the Student Council. She also hopes that they can contribute to Student Council because there will be many interesting things that will happen in Student Council, and can be useful to others.
Daenika Adams, on the other hand, joined the Student Council a year ago, and has been an active member in various school and community activities. For Daenika, the Student Council is a great community to be part of. She said that her role in the Student Council is to be involved in every activity. “Student Council helps me to get involved, and be able to help the school, the community itself, and the other people who need help,” she said. One of the projects Daenika was involved in was the Hunger Drive, a program designed to raise money for food for people who cannot afford it. She was particularly passionate about this project because it allowed her to contribute to helping those in need. She shared that her goal for the Student Council was to raise more funds for the Hunger Drive.
During her time in the Student Council, she feels proud of the progress they’ve made with this project. Daenika believes that the key to this success depends on participation. The more people that participate, the better the progress. She also emphasized the importance of managing her time effectively to ensure she could dedicate herself to both her Student Council responsibilities and her personal commitments. Through her time on the Student Council, Daenika has learned valuable lessons about teamwork, time management, and community service. She feels that joining the Student Council has been a fulfilling experience, allowing her to participate in school events, while also making a meaningful difference in the lives of others through various projects.
Both Lucy and Daenika embody the leadership and dedication that the Student Council represents. Whether it’s through organizing school events, resolving conflicts, or managing community services projects like the Hunger Drive, this has proven that the Student Council is more than just a community for student engagement. It’s a place where personal growth, teamwork, and a genuine passion for helping others come together. Their stories serve as a proof to the impact that Student Council members can have, not only on their school, but also on their community. They hope that more students will be inspired to join and experience the joy and fulfillment that comes with being part of the Student Council.
