Stressed out
May 13, 2020
Quarantine has been extended, but every day you see more and more people going out, most for essential things, others just for fun, or the unessentials. Everyone’s on edge, everyone’s going crazy staying inside, but this is what we need to do. Stress is bound to occur when you’re trapped inside all day. There’s only so many things you can do.
During this time, the number one thing that’s stressed me out is other people. I work in fast food, therefore, I’m still working. The people who come through the drive through at my job get so worried that they’re going to touch the workers’ hands, so they use their fingertips to grab things and honestly that’s irritating. If you are so worried about this virus, why go out and risk it for fast food, which is bad for you too?
Netflix’s business has probably been booming with people not having anything else to do. I vote they start bringing back oldies for people to rewatch. Since quarantine, I’ve made it through maybe three seasons of Criminal Minds, and that’s with me still working and working on projects around the house. In fact, I’m listening to an episode right now.
Social Media is a big influence on how teenagers spend their time. Scrolling through Instagram and Snapchat can get boring though. Unless you have funny friends like mine, it gets boring. Tik Tok is an easy time killer, as all you have to do is swipe up and double tap the screen to like the video. Facebook has been a breeding ground for posts about seniors and their accomplishments. It’s also been flourishing with “Adopt a 2020 Senior” pages where you can ‘adopt’ a senior and send them gifts to help them feel better.
As there’s plenty of time, there’s a lot of time to sleep. You can get so much sleep when you don’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn to go to your 9-5 job every day. I’ve heard my mom (who was deemed unessential) joke about how when she goes back to work she’s going to need weight watchers and maternity pants for her office job.
The moral of the story is to find something to take your mind off of what’s going on. Pick up a new hobby, DIY an entire house if that helps you not be affected by the stress of the CoronaVirus.
